Foundation Stage

Welcome to the Foundation Stage Class Page.

We are looking forward to a very busy Spring term!

Our first topic this term is Superheroes. For this we will be learning what makes a Superhero as well as what makes a Villain. We will be reading several books from the ‘Supertato’ series as well as other Superhero themed books. We will be finishing the topic with a Superhero and Villain day on Friday 14st February.

We will also be introducing ‘Superhero Writers’ which is a writing initiative which continues into Key Stage 1. We will explain this in more detail at our Writing Café on Wednesday 15th January at 5pm and Thursday 16thJanuary at 9am. You will be receiving more information about this soon.

After February half term we will begin our second topic in the Spring Term which is On the Farm. For our Farm topic we have many exciting activities planned. We will be reading ‘The Little Red’ and then ‘What the Ladybird Heard’. We will complete lots of activities about the farm as well as learning about animals which live on the farm. This will be followed by learning all about chicks and having ‘Living Eggs’ arriving in the classroom. We will learn all about life cycles as we wait for and watch the chicks hatch. We will then care for the chicks until they are collected to be taken back to the farm at the end of term. We are also very excited about going on our first school trip on Tuesday 17th March where we will be visiting Church Farm in Stow Bardolph.

This term we will also be practising for our Class Assemblies. Panthers – Thursday 23rd January, Tigers Thursday 12th March. Leopards will have theirs in the Summer Term - Thursday 30th April.
