Science Investigation

Which objects and materials can bend, twist, stretch and be squashed?

In science we have been learning about materials.

We investigated how different objects made from a variety of materials can change shape. We begun by looking at a drinking can made from metal and tested it to see if it could be bent, twisted, stretched and squashed. We learnt that the metal can could be twisted but only after it had been squashed; for many of us this challenged our previous knowledge.

After testing each material we recorded our results in a table and discussed them. Some children discovered other ways materials could change shape and they presented their findings to all of us.
