Wicken Fen Trip
What a fascinating trip we have had to Wicken Fen!
The trip linked in with our learning about habitats in science and the children used and applied their scientific knowledge brilliantly across the day. They definitely wowed some of the adults with their vocabulary!
Throughout the day the children took part in 3 different activities: pond dipping, a minibeast hunt and wild art.
When pond dipping two children very excitedly found a great crested newt!
During the minibeast hunt, the children searched under logs and swept the reeds with giant nets before identifying which creatures they had found.
Squirrels, dragonflies, birds and snails were amongst some of the animals found at Wicken Fen that the children created in clay. They added detail and texture with different natural materials from around the Fen.
